Through the Capstone Experience students take part in the multi-year development of a final product which culminates in a formal presentation. Students are challenged to think critically, problem solve, develop timelines, review resources and demonstrate independent learning and effective communication skills. Students are encouraged to select a topic that is meaningful to them. This may be a potential career path, a lifelong passion or an area of personal interest. As a result, the Capstone experience should be exciting, challenging and rewarding. The Capstone experience at Newtown High School fulfills the one-credit mastery based graduation requirement for the State of Connecticut.
