Project Overview

StarGazer is a project focused on educating the scholars of the future. The first part of the project will be a wall hung tapestry with various constellations, planets, and other astral bodies on it. By scanning these objects with the StarGazer app, a page with info about the scanned object will appear. This page will talk about the location of this object, who discovered the object, and other pieces of info, as well as whether or not the object is easily visible due to light pollution. Branching from this, the secondary function of this app will be to educate people about the effects of light pollution on the vision of our night sky, and the animals in our environment. Light pollution is most commonly caused by the lights from cities, street lights, and house lights, as well as from cars. Light pollution makes the night sky much more difficult for us to see, and helping to educate people about how to limit their light pollution, while also educating them about the wonders of space will help give another generation of astronomers the curiosity for what lies beyond the limits of our world.

Collaboration

In the creation of this project, I collaborated with a few people. Firstly, I would like to thank my family. Their feedback was vital in the process of designing and creating this project. Additionally, in the interview that I did about my project, you could hear my brother, Jackson, talking to me about how he felt for the project.
Additionally, I received some help from my wonderful girlfriend, Laney. She helped in the research portion of the project, as well as giving me some artistic guidance when it came to designing the logo, and working on the tapestry itself.

Delaney, Liam

Hello, my name is Liam DeLaney. I am a junior at Pomperaug High School, and in my free time, I love to play video games, jam out to some music, watch movies, and go for walks with my family. I've always been curious about space, and my interest in sci-fi movies only fueled my ambition to design a project that would help people learn about our galaxy, and even our universe. In the future, I hope to become a therapist, as I feel I can easily develop a personal relationship with someone, and helping others to become a happier version of themselves gives me a sense of pride that I can't quite get anywhere else.
