Project Overview
My personal interest project is an online show for those who are upset about not being able to see a live performance. I decided to pick a comedy musical that people would want to watch with family or friends. The show is called the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. It is about six socially awkward spellers who show their passions, struggles, and dreams shown in a numerous amount of songs. I asked some of my friends from theater to play the characters in the show as I cast them into what parts they play based on their personalities.
Collaboration
This project had tons of collaboration involved. To make the online show, my theater friends played the roles of the characters. Every week I would send them an assignment on what lines or songs to sing. They would take individual clips of them saying their lines and singing each part of a song and send them all to me by the end of the week. At the end of the week, I would put all the videos together and finish a new part of the show. This task was hard because I had to take each individual line or singing part and match them up with the karaoke track. This would take approximately 12-24 hours just to put about 10 pages together. Sometimes I would facetime a cast member and go over their tasks and help them with anything they were confused about. Without everyone who helped me put this show together by playing the parts, it would be much harder to make this show come alive.
